Scrabble poem

Close the door,
close the windows,
and let us talk,
because outside it is war,
it is a war on common sense and logic,
and oh, how the brain suffers It,
and how much better it is indoors,
with our cups of tea and gin,
and beer,
and here without fear,
without fear of illiteracy,
because out there it is a sea,
a sea of linguistic stupidity,
and oh, how disgusting it is to me,
how disgusting this linguistic barbarity,
and do you know,
do you know that when they use words out there,
they cut them in half and abbreviate them,
oh, it is disgusting to me,
and that is why I am in here with you,
with a dictionary,
and scrabble and civility,
and how much better it is for me,
because we can talk,
and drink,
and play until we with our double vision,
are making 14 letter words,
and are as drunk as can be.
